Three Masked Men in Home Invasion Jay, Maine

Recall that "three" is the liar's number, according to research by Mark McClish.  His research found that when someone is going to be deceptive, and must choose a number, they most often choose the number "three" for their deception.  The exception is when one has been drinking and driving and is asked, "How many drinks have you had?"

The most common answer?

"Just two, officer."

Regrettably, there is no statement from the woman who made the report.  It may be that the statement not only shows deception, but it might contain valuable content for the investigation.

JAY — Police say a woman who reported a home invasion early Saturday on Macomber Hill Road has stopped cooperating with them and a state fire investigator, police Chief Larry White Sr. said Wednesday.
A woman at the residence reported at 12:22 a.m. that three masked men forced their way into her mobile home. She told police she was directed to sit in a chair as they started to stockpile items near the door. When she used a cellphone to call police, they fled and set her husband’s truck on fire before leaving the property, she reported. The truck was destroyed by the fire.
The alleged victim in this incident is no longer cooperating with police and has attained an attorney,” White said in a statement. “There are some inconsistencies with her statements. The alleged victim’s unwillingness to cooperate any further directly with the Jay Police (Department) or State Fire Marshal’s Office is hindering the investigation; however, the investigation will continue.”
Police have cleared occupants of a red Dodge truck they had been looking for in connection to the case, White said.
The residents of the town have concerns and anxiety over this crime, he said. He wants residents to know the status of the case and that the department will continue to investigate along with the Maine Office of the State Fire Marshal, White said.
The collection of evidence and statements and interviews are ongoing,” he said.
Jay Detective Richard Caton IV and state fire investigator Ken MacMaster are the lead investigators in the case. Jay Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier and officer Derrick Doucette were the first to arrive at the scene when the home invasion was initially reported.
Evidence and facts in this case will be reviewed by the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office once the case is completed, White said.
Anyone with any information in this case is asked to call the Jay Police Department at 897-6766 or the Fire Marshal’s Office at 626-3870.

The woman who falsely accused three Duke lacrosse players of raping her in 2006 has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of her boyfriend.

Crystal Mangum, 35, was sentenced to between 14 and 18 years in prison for killing Reginald Daye, 46.

The former stripper and mother-of-three stabbed her boyfriend in the side of his chest during a fight at Daye's apartment on April 3, 2011.

Daye died 10 days later at Duke Hospital due to complications from his injuries but managed to speak to police before his death.

While Mangum claimed she stabbed Daye in self defense after he dragged her out by the hair out of the bathroom, Daye told investigators she Mangum attacked him several times with knives before stabbing him in the chest, according to News & Observer.
It took the jury six hours to deliberate.

Deputies immediately led Mangum out of the courtroom in handcuffs following the announcement of her sentence.

Her attorneys had hoped for a verdict of voluntary manslaughter.

The jury found Mangum not guilty of larceny for allegedly stealing cashier’s checks totaling $700 that Daye had previously given her to pay the rent.

Members of Daye’s family said they were satisfied with the verdict.

'We’re just grateful that justice was served for Reggie today, for his family and his friends,' his sister, Cynthia Wilson, said.

'We just thank everybody that played a part and thank God. We’re just happy.'

In 2006, Mangum claimed Duke lacrosse players Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty and Dave Evans gang raped her at a team party where she was hired as a stripper.

The three men were arrested but eventually declared innocent by North Carolina's attorney general after the evidence failed to back up Magnum's inconsistent story and her mental stability was called into question.

The district attorney who championed Mangum's claims was later disbarred.

North Carolina's attorney general eventually declared the players innocent of a 'tragic rush to accuse'
Prosecutors declined to press charges for the false accusations, but Mangum's bizarre legal troubles continued.

Not long after she was convicted on misdemeanor charges of setting a fire that nearly razed her home with her three children inside.
In a videotaped police interrogation, she told officers she set got into a confrontation with her boyfriend at the time - not Daye - and burned his clothes, smashed his car windshield and threatened to stab him.

Friends said Mangum has never recovered from the stigma brought by the lacrosse case and has been involved in a string of questionable relationships in an attempt to provide stability for her children.

Vincent Clark, a friend who co-authored Mangum's self-published memoir, said: 'I'm sad for her. I hope people realize how difficult it is being her.'

to me the red flags are as follows:

they STARTED to barracade the door,
(starting takes an instant -- if she had said they barracaded the door -- i'd be more likely to believe her.

as for the #3 -- the liars # sure seems to fall in line here -- but what get's me is that three gyys can storm a trailer efficiently -- sounds crowded!!

it also seems -- lets be honest -- early in theevening for criminals -- many people are still meandering off otbed around midnight . i'd say criminals wait a couple more hours to have more of the element of surprise ogn their side.

and -- if she stoped cooperating -- ya she's lying.

interesteing --

I wonder if she was singing the lyrics from Carrie Underwood's song when the truck 'caught' fire.

"That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seat,
I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires..."
